Man forbidden to leave Kristianstad

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The Swedish Migration Agency decided during the summer of 2019 that the man would be deported, following an application from Säpo. When it was later established that there was an impediment to enforcement, he was charged with a notification duty instead.

In June last year, a decision was made regarding the continued obligation to report, which may last until June 2025. Säpo applied later that year for the man to be prohibited from leaving Kristianstad municipality as long as he had an obligation to report. According to Säpo, it was necessary to prevent physical meetings within certain groupings. In addition, there was a continuing risk that the man would commit or participate in terrorist crimes.

The man objected to the ban, but the Stockholm district court considered that there was a need for the measure.

The case was appealed to the Svea Court of Appeal. The man pointed out, among other things, that the residence ban affects his children.

But according to the Court of Appeal, there were not sufficiently strong reasons for his interest to outweigh that of the public, and the ban on leaving Kristianstad remains in place.
