A 19-year-old Chatham man faces numerous charges after a disturbance Friday night at a residence on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police responded to the call, and upon arrival, learned that a male suspect had attended a woman’s residence contrary to his court-ordered conditions.
The accused was instructed to leave by the homeowner, and in response allegedly assaulted the woman along with her friend who had attempted to intervene, police said.
Prior to police arrival, the accused also allegedly caused damage to the residence before fleeing on foot with several items belonging to the homeowner.
The man was ultimately located a short distance away by responding officers and arrested.
He was charged with the following offences: failure to comply with release order (four counts); assault causing bodily harm; assault (two counts); mischief under $5,000; theft under $5,000 (two counts); and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (two counts).

He was transported to police headquarters where he was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Police seek information on Sass Road break-in
On Friday, between the hours of 1:50 a.m. and 3:50 a.m., two suspects reportedly gained entry into the secure fenced-in compound of Waste Connections of Canada on Sass Road in Chatham.
Once inside, several items of value were taken by the suspects before fleeing from the property, police said.
