Officers located a vehicle and spoke with the driver at a campsite in Rondeau Provincial Park about 2:20 p.m. Saturday, Elgin OPP said. The officer, suspecting the driver was intoxicated, arrested him and took him to the Chatham detachment for testing.
A Windsor man, 67, is charged with impaired operation and operation with blood alcohol over the legal limit, police said. His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, his vehicle was impounded for seven days, and he is to appear in court Aug. 12.
Man wanted after 2017 auto theft arrested
Officers arrested a man wanted in connection to a vehicle stolen in September 2017, Chatham-Kent police say.
In June 2023, officers began investigating an abandoned vehicle found in a Coatsworth Avenue garage in Chatham, police said. The vehicle had been reported stolen to LaSalle police on Sept. 3, 2017.

Investigation identified the man who’d parked the vehicle, said police, who obtained an arrest warrant when he couldn’t be found.
The man turned himself in at Chatham-Kent police headquarters about 11:30 am Monday, police said.
A man is charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000, police said. It was released with an Aug. 16 short date.
Homeowner finds intruder, man charged
A man was charged after a homeowner found an intruder in his home, Chatham-Kent police say.
Officers called to a break-in on Chatham’s Baldoon Road about 4 am Tuesday learned the homeowner came in from his front porch to find a stranger in his kitchen, who left, police said. A suspect was arrested.
A Chatham man, 19, is charged with breaking and entering, police said. It was released with conditions and an Aug. 26 short date.
