A 55-year-old man died on Tuesday evening in connection with a boat accident on Hjälmaren, local media reports.
The man was traveling in a recreational boat that ran aground near the town of Fiskeboda in Katrineholm municipality. Police and emergency services were called to the scene and then found the man unconscious in the boat.
The man was from Örebro.
– The person was not contactable and the healthcare began life-saving treatment. He was taken by ambulance to hospital where he was later pronounced dead, says Marcus Anefur, press spokesperson at the police, to Nerikes Allehanda.
The police are investigating the incident as negligence in maritime traffic.
– We do it so that we can use our toolbox to investigate and handle the matter. There is no person suspected of a crime. We have impounded the boat to carry out a technical examination.
The alarm came in to the police at 6 p.m.
