It was in April 2023 that the man, who was on blood-thinning medication, was admitted to hospital in Malmö. As it takes a while for blood-thinning medication to stop working, patients often need to be given drugs that increase the blood’s ability to clot.
But no such medicine was ever given to the man, who died after his condition worsened.
“According to the investigation, there may have been misunderstandings about the treatment in the oral communication between healthcare personnel,” writes the region.
According to the hospital, procedures have been changed to improve staff communication.
