A man in his 20s who is suspected of kidnapping, aggravated rape of a child and aggravated weapons offense was arrested on Monday at Södertörn district court.
The suspicions against him arose when the police raided an address south of Stockholm on Friday evening.
During the crackdown, four people were arrested on suspicion of involvement in a kidnapping in Skogås, south of Stockholm. All were later arrested, but three of them – a man and two women – were released over the weekend.
However, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, they are “not dismissed from the investigation”.
The fourth, a man in his 20s, was requested on Monday morning to be detained on probable cause on suspicion of aggravated rape of a child, kidnapping and aggravated weapons offences. Shortly before 3 p.m., the district court announced that the man had been arrested.
The circumstances surrounding the case are unclear, and the police have been very secretive. Charges must be filed by March 20 at the latest.
