The accident happened Friday morning in an elevator at the wind farm in Markbygden, Piteå municipality. Ambulance was quickly at the scene of the accident and according to SVT Nyheter the person should have been freed at 13.10 on Friday.
– The person is physically trapped in one of the wind turbine’s elevators and the rescue service is assisting, said an SOS operator shortly after the alarm came in, writes SVT News.
During Saturday, the police announced that the person died in connection with the accident.
Investigates events and conducts interrogations
The incident is still under investigation and the police do not want to release information about exactly what happened at the scene.
— An investigation of the accident scene has been underway and then an interrogation will be held to find out what actually happened. So I’m not going to preempt the investigation and tell you any details, says Maria Linnaeuspress spokesperson at the police.
The man was a foreign citizen and his next of kin have been informed.
