A man has died in connection with an accident during Friday evening. He was found badly injured in a ditch by county road 581 in Halmstad. Next to him was also an electric scooter and at the moment there is uncertainty about what has happened, according to the police. Relatives have been notified.
Police and ambulance were called to county road 581 near Stjärnarp in Halmstad municipality at 8.30 pm on Friday evening, which Hallandsposten was the first to report on. Then a passer-by had found an injured man who was bleeding from the head. Next to the man was an electric scooter.
Ambulance and police went to the scene and the man was taken to hospital in an ambulance, but his life could not be saved.
– He was lying there and was unwell, so the passers-by attempted resuscitation on the spot until the ambulance arrived. It was a critical situation then, but I don’t know how the situation is now, says Jon Franzén, officer on duty at police region West.
It is unknown how the man was injured, whether it was an accident or not, but the police do not rule out that it could be a crime.
– A report has been drawn up, but I am unsure of the relevant criminal classification. The bike has been seized, then we have to proceed from that, says Jon Franzén.
At the moment, the police have started a preliminary investigation regarding carelessness in traffic, contagion from a traffic accident and causing the death of another, according to the police.
