The alarm came in around 19:30 on Sunday evening about a suspicious shooting in the Bjurhovda district in Västerås. Witnesses state that they heard several shots being fired at the scene.
A man in his 20s is said to have been seriously injured in connection with the shooting, according to information given to TV4 Nyheterna. Region Västmanland confirms on its website that a man in his 20s has been taken to hospital, but does not give details about his injuries.
No arrests
Later in the evening, the police announced that the man had died from his injuries.
There is a large police operation on site and the area is cordoned off. A police helicopter has flown over Västerås during the evening. No one has yet been arrested.
