Man charged with attempted murder following shooting in downtown Chatham

A 25-year-old man is charged with attempted murder in connection to a shooting in downtown Chatham early Sunday morning.

A 32-year-old man was shot after a confrontation with the accused in the area of ​​King Street West and Fifth Street around 1 am, said Chatham-Kent police.

The accused was arrested, taken into custody at police headquarters and is scheduled to make a court appearance Sunday, police said.

The victim is undergoing treatment for his injuries and is listed in stable condition, Police said.

The investigation has determined this to be an isolated incident between the two men who are known to each other, police said.

The name of the accused was not released.
