Man charged with assault causing bodily harm

On June 30, Chatham-Kent police began an investigation into an assault, where five male suspects had caused serious bodily harm to another man during an altercation.

As a result of the investigation, police formed grounds for the arrest of these men for assault causing bodily harm.

On Saturday, at approximately 11:15 pm, police responded to a report of a disturbance involving a large number of people in the area of ​​AD Shadd Road in North Buxton.

Upon arrival, officers determined that one of the involved individuals had an outstanding warrant in effect in relation to the above incident, police said.

The 28-year-old North Buxton man was arrested, transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a short date.

Stunt driving charge ugly

A 21-year-old Chatham man faces a stunt driving charge after a Saturday night incident.

At approximately 8:25 pm, officers conducted a directed enforcement blitz in the area of ​​St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Over the past several months, there have been significant ongoing issues with vehicles reportedly performing stunts and driving dangerously through business parking lots along this road, police said.

Officers spotted a vehicle operating at a high rate of speed, while also intentionally causing the tires to lose traction in the performance of burnouts and doughnuts, police added.

Police stopped the vehicle and subsequently charged the driver under the Highway Traffic Act.

The man’s vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 14 days, while his license was suspended for 30 days. He was released with a short date.
