Man charged with arson after severe fire in Haga

It was on the evening of April 27 last year that the apartment fire broke out. The man who is suspected of having caused it was taken by ambulance to the emergency room with smoke damage. From the hospital, he contacted the police himself because he wanted to tell them about the incident.

The man’s version is that he has a threatening picture of him and that some others lit the apartment on fire while he was inside.

Boiled oil

The prosecutor believes that text messages that the man sent to others about him boiling oil and oil stains that were found on the clothes he was wearing speak against the story. Blood samples also show that the man was under the influence of amphetamines when the fire took place.

What started the fire is not clear, but the fire investigation has shown that one of the control knobs was set in a different direction than the others, which may indicate that the stove had been running. There are also indications that oil was heated in a pan when the fire broke out.

In the indictment, it is established that the fire posed a danger to the lives of the neighbors and that it entailed extensive destruction of other people’s property.

The prosecutor demands that the man be sentenced for arson in the first place, or for gross negligence in the second place.
