Man charged for the murder of Mayson Ayoub in ICA Maxi in Norsborg

She was murdered at work • Now the 26-year-old suspected: “Come as an impulse”

Mayson Ayoub worked at Ica Maxi in Norsborg and made an evening pass on January 7 this year in the store.

Suddenly and completely unprovoked, a man went to her and cut her with a knife in her throat. Mayson Ayoub was seriously injured and was taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter. Later in the evening, the message came that her life could not be saved.

Today, a 26-year-old man was charged with a history in psychiatry. He is judged to suffer from a serious mental disorder.

Just over two hours after the 26-year-old bought the knife, he attacked Mayson Ayoub.

Bought the knife just before the murder

The investigation shows that the man entered a building department store south of Stockholm at 17 o’clock. About a quarter later, he left the store after buying a knife.

He then took the car to Ica Maxi. After sitting in the parking lot for a while, he went into the grocery store at 18. Surveillance films show how he goes around the departments for almost half an hour before leaving the store. Shortly after 7 pm he returns to ICA, with his right hand in the jacket pocket.

For about half an hour he moved near Mayson Ayoub.

At 19.39, the cameras capture how the 26-year-old goes behind Mayson Ayoub, taking a quick step towards her, pulls out her right hand out of the jacket pocket and distributes a stab.

Mayson Ayoub fell to the floor, and her colleagues tried to stop the heavy bleeding. The 26-year-old walked from there but could quickly be captured by a shop guard.

Already in connection with the arrest, he acknowledged the deed.

“I did it as an impulse”

The 26-year-old has in interrogation told about his mental illness and that he felt very bad that evening and had plans to take his life. According to him, Mayson Ayoub came to him and asked if he wanted help with something.

He then got what he describes as an impulse – and knew her to death shortly thereafter.

“Then something triggers in me and I attacked her,” says the 26-year-old in police interrogation.

Police: How come it was she?

– I don’t know.

– I did it as an impulse, it came like just impulse. Not that I got stuck on her as well. And when I did, I didn’t recognize myself. Like it is not me, it is not, I am not such a person to hurt another. So I don’t know what I’ve done as after when she falls down on the ground. I didn’t understand what happened as well. Then I walked a few meters and then the guard came and took me.

Mayson Ayoub is mourned by her family, who describes her as an amazing mother, grandmother and wife.
