Man charged after multiple commercial break-ins: Chatham-Kent police

A local man faces a slew of charges after multiple commercial break-ins this year, Chatham-Kent police say.

Intelligence unit officers Tuesday arrested a man matching the description of a suspect in four break-in probes, police said in a release Friday. At a bail hearing, he was remanded into custody pending a court appearance Tuesday.

“As the investigation progressed, officers were able to establish a connection between the arrested individual and several other commercial break and enter investigations,” police said.

A Chatham-Kent man, 27, faces charges including eight counts of breaking and entering, two counts of possessing stolen property, and single counts of possessing a stolen credit card and theft, in connection with eight alleged incidents in the Chatham area between April 22 and May 27, police said.

Driver check ends in charges

A man faces drug and impaired charges after an officer checked on a driver dozing at a Thamesville stop sign Thursday morning, Chatham-Kent police say.

Believing the man to be under the influence, the officer arrested him and seized drug paraphernalia containing suspected fentanyl, police said.

A Bothwell man, 37, is charged with impaired driving by drugs, and two counts of possessing a controlled substance, police said. He was released with conditions and a short date.
