A man faces multiple charges after a March 18 weapons call shut Tecumseh Park and a stretch of King Street West in downtown Chatham, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers responding to King Street West at 2 am learned a clash occurred after two men and two women had agreed to meet in a bid to resolve a dispute, police said in an update Tuesday.

“In the confrontation, a man wearing a balaclava assaulted another man with a knife, causing injury,” police said. “. . . A woman intervened, inflicting injury to the attacker (and) sustaining injury in the process.”
Three people were hurt and received medical attention, police said.
A fourth person present at the scene was identified as a witness, police said.
A Chatham man, 19, is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault and failing to comply with a sentence, and single counts of disguise with intent, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a probation order, police said Tuesday . He was held pending a bail hearing.

Police seek pair after home invasion
Investigators are seeking two suspects after a home invasion robbery Monday night, Chatham-Kent police say.
Officers were called to Fairview Line near Communication Road in Chatham about 8:20 pm after two disguised individuals, with a weapon, forcefully entered a home, demanded money and left with various items, police said.
The homeowners were unhurt and have been provided with supports, police said.
Despite a perimeter search of the area, using a dog team and drone, the suspects escaped, police said.

Man charged after domestic violence probe: police
A Chatham man faces charges after a domestic violence probe, Chatham-Kent police say.
The investigation began in Blenheim just before 4 pm Monday, police said. A suspect was arrested in Chatham around 8 p.m.
A Chatham man, 28, is charged with two counts of assault and single counts of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, criminal harassment and failing to comply with an undertaking, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.
