Man charged after clash with woman: CK police

A man is facing charges after clashing with a woman in Chatham on Friday.

Chatham-Kent police said the pair was arguing when the situation escalated and the man allegedly threw a cell phone at the woman and damaged other property in the house.

A 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested for assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000, and later released with a Nov. 20 court date, police said.

Crash leads to impaired charge

Man was charged with impaired driving after Chatham-Kent police responded to a vehicle that struck a hydro pole on Colborne Street in Chatham Friday.

Police said the driver had been consuming alcohol and was taken to police headquarters for further tests. The man was found to be 1.5 times above the legal limit of alcohol in his system, police added.

A 24-year-old Chatham man was charged with operation while impaired – blood-alcohol concentration over 80, police said.

He was later released with a Nov. 23 short date.
