Man carrying 306 CPU caught before he could pass through

The smuggler, who was carrying 306 CPUs wrapped and glued on his body, could not pass the customs control.

A man has been caught trying to smuggle CPUs into China in the Chinese port of Qingmao. While it wasn’t the first attempt to smuggle PC parts into China, this one was a bold attempt, as the smuggler was caught with 306 CPUs attached to his body.

While smuggling computer parts instead of drugs makes it easier to escape from customs dogs, trying to get through a metal detector isn’t exactly wise. But his arrest wasn’t because he was caught walking through a metal detector.

China’s People’s Daily reported that the smuggler was caught trying to cross from Macau to China on June 29. The customs officers observing the arriving passengers noticed that the man was “walking in an abnormal posture” and decided to look for the man. The search found 306 CPUs wrapped in plastic film and tape around the man’s waist, legs, and back.

The make of the CPUs has not been disclosed, but one of the images released by China Customs shows a few of them, and it’s quite possible that it’s the LGA 2066 CPU. The interesting thing is that these are not new models.

It is not easy to guess why such an attempt took place. After all, older model CPUs won’t do much.
