This was the competition:
Tweet about cosplay taking hobbyists 14 months to make goes viral
What kind of cosplay did he have? Doherty created a tank in the style of the Jorge-052 character. He is a SPARTAN and heavy weapons specialist.
In the games, Jorge is 2.23 meters tall and weighs 145 kilos in a suit, so the Hungarian is a real colossus.
It took Bastler 14 months to create the suit
What do you know about his costume? Internet journalist Jake Lucky said “this guy” (without mentioning Doherty by name) built his own Halo Spartan. The suit weighs 25 kilograms and makes him appear taller than 2.13 meters. The man spent 14 months building this suit.
A video of Lucky joining Jorge in costume went viral, reaching 1.7 million views.
Doherty himself, who has almost no reach on Twitter, says: He is about 2.10 meters tall in the suit – a little smaller than Lucky stated.
How is the suit received? It’s generally received fantastically. Users on Twitter and Reddit are celebrating the player’s dedication.
In general, cosplay is extremely popular in the scene and people who master it and put so much time into their hobby are often admired and revered.
In Germany it was also all about cosplay on the same weekend:
