A man in his 50s was assaulted by a youth gang in a residential area in Hässelby during the night of Sunday.
The man’s wife alerted the police at 01:00 and when police patrols arrived at the scene, the man was found injured outside a preschool in the area.
– It is unclear why the gang attacked the man, says the officer on duty at the Stockholm police, who adds that the man, who was alone, took it to mean that there were upwards of ten people.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance and it was unclear at 03:00 how serious his injuries are.
– We are talking to him so he is conscious, says the guard.
In the vicinity of the crime scene was a group of youths but it is not confirmed whether they were involved in the assault or not.
– We are investigating it now. No one has been arrested yet, says the guard.
The police have opened a preliminary investigation into serious assault.
