A 45-year-old man has been arrested after he threatened a journalist at his home in Kungsbacka municipality.
– It will be investigated as a democracy and hate crime, says Caroline Karlsson at the police.
It was late on Sunday evening that the police were alerted to a residence in Kungsbacka, where a person who works as a journalist was threatened in his home.
– It is unclear whether the man was inside the house or outside, says Caroline Karlsson, press spokesperson at the police in the West region.
The man, who is 45 years old and known to the police, had some kind of attachment with him that he threatened the journalist with. No one was injured in connection with the incident.
A large police operation was launched to try to find the man after he left the journalist’s residence. He was not found until Tuesday night.
– He tried to flee the scene, but very quickly they managed to arrest him and he is now under arrest on suspicion of breach of domestic peace and illegal threats.
The case will in future be investigated as a suspected democracy and hate crime.
