On the night of Friday, a man was arrested on suspicion of rape in Åre. The man, who is in his 20s, is now under arrest by prosecutors. The police have conducted interviews with witnesses, the suspect and the victim, who is a woman. The suspected crime scene has also been photo-documented.
– It must have happened outdoors in central Åre during the night. It is very early in the investigation, so we do not have more information than that at the moment, says Elisabeth Glaas, the police’s spokesperson in the North region.
The public prosecutor’s office states that the man is a suspect on probable grounds and that there is no information that the suspect and the plaintiff are acquaintances.
