    A man has been arrested after a woman was found dead in a forest in Gothenburg on Thursday.

    The police now write on their website that the man is known to the victim and is about the same age.

    Reduced prices for petrol and diesel

    Leading fuel chains are putting an end to a series of recent price hikes – in the wake of higher global oil prices and a boost to the dollar – with cuts in petrol, diesel and biodiesel prices.

    The target price for a liter of 95-octane petrol is reduced by 20 öre to SEK 17.09 per liter at manned stations. The price of diesel is reduced by 10 öre to SEK 18.89 per litre.

    For biodiesel (HVO100) there will also be a reduction of 10 öre, which gives a liter price of SEK 22.13.

    The prices of vehicle gas and ethanol are left unchanged.

    Fuel prices are generally lower at unmanned stations and may vary locally.

    33 dead after drinking poisonous liquor

    The number of deaths in Istanbul linked to consumption of poisoned liquor has risen to 33, reports the state-run Turkish news agency Anatolia.

    Earlier this week, 23 deceased people were reported.

    The cause is believed to be alcohol mixed with methanol – an alcohol that is extremely toxic and dangerous compared to the ethanol normally found in spirits.

    Four people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the sale of the alcohol.

    Students are stabbed at school – one is charged

    In November last year, two students were stabbed at a school in Hallsberg. Now a 20-year-old man is charged at Örebro District Court with two cases of serious assault, the Public Prosecutor’s Office announces.

    It was on November 7 last year that two students were stabbed outside at a school in central Hallsberg.

    A then 19-year-old man was arrested three days later when he came to the police station on his own. He has admitted during the preliminary investigation that he was at the scene but denies any crime.

    Prosecutor Robin Andersson says in a press release that the incident was caused by a conflict.

    “It has not been an act of insanity, the people involved have known or known each other”.

    Pehrson: Mismanagement at schools should be fined

    Education Minister Johan Pehrson (L) wants schools that do not comply with the law to be able to receive fines, as a complement to fines.

    American former tennis player Pam Shriver had 12 of her grand slam trophies stolen on Wednesday after she evacuated the devastating fires in Los Angeles, she told ESPN.

    The trophies were in her car, which was parked outside the hotel where she is staying temporarily. On Thursday morning local time, she discovered that the car was gone.

    During his career, the 62-year-old won a total of 22 doubles titles in tennis’ four biggest tournaments.

    Israel has reached an agreement with Hamas on the release of hostages held in Gaza, Haaretz reports, citing a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.

    Netanyahu is due to convene his security cabinet on Friday and the government will meet to ratify the deal later in the day. The truce thus looks set to come into effect on Sunday.

    On Wednesday, Qatar announced that the parties had reached an agreement on a 42-day ceasefire starting Sunday. But Israel has accused rival Hamas of trying to back out of the accord “at the last minute” and has yet to formally approve the deal.
