On the night of Thursday, a man and a woman in their 20s were shot in Skärholmen in southern Stockholm.
– I heard the shooting, two or three shots. It was chaos, says Monika Piechota, who followed the drama from her balcony.
It was late on Wednesday evening that a man and a woman in their 20s were injured in a shooting outside in Skärholmen. According to the police, the injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
Witnesses tell TV4 Nyheterna that several shots were fired at the man and the woman. The man then tried to escape up a flight of stairs before collapsing from his injuries.
After calling 112, Monika Piechota filmed the drama from her balcony.
– It happens quite often. You feel worried about society. You don’t want the children to go out in the evenings, you never know what will happen and whether they will come home or not, says Monika Piechota.
No arrests
Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (M) states that the mobilization of the Stockholm police during the wave of violence in the past six months has prevented many shootings, but that it will take time to reverse the trend.
– We now take new approaches every week with both long-term reforms and short-term measures to push back this crime, he says to TV4 Nyheterna.
The police have not arrested anyone for the incident, but have interviewed people who were at the scene at the time. The police also state that they made several interesting finds at the scene.
A preliminary investigation into attempted murder has been launched.
