Man allegedly steals handicap parking signs

Chatham-Kent police responded Wednesday morning to reports of a suspicious person on King Street East in Chatham.

Police found the man and discovered he had allegedly stolen handicap parking signs.

The 51-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with theft and possessing stolen property. He was released with a short date.

Breach of probation charge

Police responded Wednesday afternoon to a suspicious person on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

It was reported the man was seen with a compound bow, police said.

Police located the man, who was wanted on two outstanding warrants – failing to comply with a probation order and failing to comply with a DNA order.

He was also on conditions not to possess weapons of any kind. Police seized the compound bow.

The 46-year-old man was charged with failing to comply with a probation order. He was transported to police headquarters and later released with a short date.

Drug load

Police conducted a traffic stop Wednesday evening on Elgin Street in Wallaceburg.

Police discovered the passenger was wanted on an outstanding warrant and had been released by the courts in 2019 with a condition not to possess any unlawful drug or substance.

Upon arrest, the man was allegedly found in possession of suspected fentanyl.

The 42-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with the release order and drug possession. He was taken to headquarters and later released with conditions and a short date.
