Man accused of assaulting two Chatham-Kent police officers

Man charged with domestic offenses

A man is facing charges after being accused of throwing a shoe and urine at Chatham-Kent police officers.

Police said the accused went before a justice of the peace Tuesday afternoon while in police custody.

After discovering he was being remanded in custody, police said the accused became angry and allegedly threw a shoe at an officer.

Police added he then allegedly proceeded to throw urine, hitting an officer in the face.

The accused was charged with assault and assault with a weapon, police said.

Investigating arson

Chatham-Kent police are investigating an alleged arson that occurred just after 4 pm in Chatham.

Police were called to an address on Birchwood, where it’s reported a fence was intentionally set on fire causing approximately $3,000 damage.
