Man 60 charged with arson following Wallaceburg fire

A 60-year-old man has been charged with arson in connection with a New Year’s Day fire at 502 Wall St. in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent police say the man, described as a Chatham-Kent resident, turned himself in on Jan. 4 at 4 pm after police had determined to arrest him.

He was released with conditions and a future short date Feb. 13.

Firefighters from Station No. 3 Wallaceburg and Station No. 2 Chatham were called to the Jan. 1 fire at 2:14 pm

There were no injuries and the cause of the blaze was under investigation by the local fire service and the Office of the Fire Marshal.
