Brantford Police issued a press release just after 1:30 pm Sunday saying a 33-year-old male had sustained a gunshot wound that was not deemed life-threatening.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Police are saying they believe this to have been a targeted incident, not a random act of violence, and that there is no concern for public safety at this time.

Colborne and Alfred Streets remained closed over the noon hour as officers focused their attention on an empty parking lot on the southwest corner of the intersection, where several evidence markers could be seen placed on the ground.
