The municipality of Malung-Sälen is now taking the final step to leave the municipality-owned tourist company Visit Dalarna. That after several years of being dissatisfied with the company.
It costs the municipality two million kroner a year to be there, and when the municipality is now urgently forced to save 29 million kroner on staff, the agreement with Visit Dalarna is definitively terminated.
– This decision probably wouldn’t have come now if we didn’t have to save money, says municipal councilor Mikael Östling (M).
The council will make the final decision on this issue in just under two weeks.
May have consequences
– I am disappointed if now Malung-Sälen does not want to participate anymore and am worried about how it might turn out with other common issues in the county. This can have consequences. It may happen that other municipalities hesitate to enter into collaborations that might benefit Malung-Sälen. Malung-Sälen might lose out on this in the long run, says Fredrik Jarl (C), chairman of the company that owns Visit Dalarna.
Therefore, the municipality is leaving the company – see more in the clip.
