Iran’s extensive robotic attack against Israel is a significant escalation that gives cause for “great concern”.
This is the opinion of Sweden’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maria Malmer Stenergard (M), a view she shares with colleagues in Europe.
– It is a clear escalation and something that we naturally condemn, says Malmer Stenergard to Aktuellt.
And French President Emmanuel Macron condemns Iran’s actions “in the strongest possible terms” in a statement.
The outgoing President of the European Council Charles Michel writes, in a post on X:
“I strongly condemn Iran’s attack on Israel, it is a threat to regional security.
He adds that the EU “stands ready to support the efforts aimed at de-escalation and protection”.
EU: Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, via a spokesperson, condemns the robot attack as a “serious threat” to security in the region.
Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen opened on Tuesday for an international military operation in the Middle East. Maria Malmer Stenergard does not want to answer how she would react to such an initiative.
– We will get back to that. But it is clear that I sympathize with those who feel a frustration about the escalation and I join those who demand a ceasefire, she tells Aktuellt.
