For a few days, fans and dehumidifiers have been running at full blast in the basement that belongs to the terraced house in Hudiksvall, and it seems to have dried up nicely, says Malin.
But it was different when the storm Hans hit the Hudiksvall area, in addition to many flooded households, the train also derailed as a result of the strong water flow.
“Scary – got a little scared”
Malin Westermark was woken up by a neighbor in the morning who said that the common basement was flooded, so she went there. She saw how the water gushed on the residential street outside and straight down into their basement.
– I had a lot of things in the basement. Mostly in moving boxes, they had absorbed water and collapsed into the water.
When she was standing in the basement trying to pick it up, she heard something:
– When I’m standing there, I hear it bubbling in the wells, and there’s a tidal wave coming down the basement stairs. It was scary, I got a little scared. And then it was filled up with muddy water, probably 30 centimeters. There was a lot of water, only muddy water.
Finally, the water could be sucked out of the basement, and restoration of the property began.
