Mali State wants to exploit the Intahaka artisanal gold mine

A draft decree adopted on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, in the Council of Ministers will allow the national mining company, the Société de recherche et d’exploitation des ressources minières du Mali (Sorem), to conduct research work on the Intahaka site, in the commune of N’Tillit, in the Gao region. Intahaka is already the largest gold mining site in the country. This project could allow the Malian state to benefit more from it. Six months ago, the Malian army and the paramilitary group Wagner (now in the Africa Corps) had invested the site.
