In Mali, several political parties and associations supported the President of the High Islamic Council of Mali (HCIM) Chérif Ousmane Madani Haïdara on August 17, who called on the junta to engage in dialogue with all armed groups, jihadists or not. The President of the HCIM, the largest association of Muslims in Mali, had made this proposal on August 15 during a meeting with the authorities.
