The country is celebrating this January 14, 2025 for the third consecutive year its “Day of Recovered Sovereignty”, created by the transitional authorities in commemoration of the massive demonstrations of 2022, against the sanctions then imposed by the regional organization ECOWAS. These economic sanctions were decided after the extension of the transition by the putschist military, who had postponed the elections despite being promised. But these sanctions had severely disrupted the country’s economy and the lives of Malians. This year, the theme of the Day is “culture, a factor in strengthening national unity and the patriotic spirit”.
