In Mali, the DDR-1 program “disarmament, demobilization, reintegration” was officially launched on Tuesday, February 11, by the Malian transitional government. It provides for the integration, within the Malian army, of combatants of armed groups, of the northern Mali mainly, but also of the center. Begun in 2015 as part of the peace agreement, this DDR process had never been completed. The peace agreement having since been broken by the military regime in place, only the so -called “republican” groups, having chosen to ally with the Malian transitional authorities, will be able to take advantage of it.
