On the night of June 8, 2024, the Summer Game Fest 2024, probably the most important video game show since the end of E3, took place. Among the announcements and trailers, the appearance of one developer stood out in particular.
What game is it? Alan Wake 2 was released in October 2023 and thus entered the race for the title of “Game of the Year” quite late. Nevertheless, the horror adventure was a secret favorite for many players.
At the Summer Game Fest 2024, studio boss Sam Lake announced Night Springs, the first major expansion for Alan Wake 2: Night Springs will have three playable characters, each experiencing their own, self-contained story.
And surprise: The release was announced for the following day, June 8, 2024. At the same time, physical Collector’s and Deluxe Editions of Alan Wake 2 can also be pre-ordered starting today. In addition to the announcement itself, Sam Lake particularly impressed with his appearance.

Studio boss steals the show from his own DLC
What made the performance so special? Anyone who searches for the tag “#summergamefest” on X, formerly Twitter, will be surprised to find Remedy boss Sam Lake in 4 of the 5 current top posts. The creative director danced his way onto the stage before jokingly announcing that this was the only way he was allowed to come on stage to announce something exciting.
A clip of the performance has more than 200,000 views on X, and the recording even ends before the actual announcement:
In the comments, fans describe Sam Lake as an “absolute treasure” who “must be protected at all costs.” For some, the performance was even the highlight of the show. On YouTube, one fan writes: “You can’t imagine how much joy it gave me to see Sam dance on stage.”
Where can I buy the DLC? Night Springs is available exclusively to owners of the Deluxe Edition of Alan Wake 2 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and the Epic Game Store. Until June 13, 2024, you can get the Deluxe upgrade on Epic for €16 instead of €20.
