Maker gives update on the hotly anticipated sequel to the

Seven years have passed since we saw Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes on television. Together with fellow actor Martin Freeman, who plays Dr. John Watson embodied, he solved overall 13 mysterious cases. But how does the story continue? Fans are waiting in vain for season 5 of the BBC hit.

After it seemed for a long time as if we would never hear another sign of life from Sherlock, in April of this year co-creator Mark Gatiss came forward with a hopeful update: the team would like to make a film. The only tricky thing is finding the perfect place in everyone’s schedule.

New hope for Sherlock sequel: Producer Sue Vertue even has the set in storage somewhere

The industry magazine Deadline now brings the next good news: It’s not just the creative people interested in the sequel the series. Sherlock producer Sue Vertue also emphasizes that she has not yet given up hope for another case with Cumberbatch and Freeman. Specifically she says:

We love this series and she has a future. One day. Perhaps. If everyone wants to join in.

The set even theoretically still exists, although the condition is questionable:

I still have the set in storage somewhere. It’s probably rotted. But first of all it’s about everyone [Beteiligten] to reconcile and motivate the actors to do it. We also had to wait forever for the Peaky Blinders film: the Sherlock revival can happen at any time

Although we are a long way from an official announcement, this is the second update in recent months that one another Sherlock adventure in prospect provides. A fifth season or possibly even a film is not unrealistic. Many popular series have experienced a revival in the past.

The best example would be Peaky Blinders – Gangs of Birmingham. For years there was talk of a final film about the Shelby clan. Nevertheless it has took a long timeuntil the project became concrete. Now the Peaky Blinders movie is actually coming. Why shouldn’t the same happen to Sherlock one day?
