National, municipal monument and protected village view
For monuments, in general, they should be protected because of ‘the beauty, meaning for science or cultural -historical value’. If a building is of national importance according to the Empire, it can get the status of the national monument.
If a historic house of cultural -historical, architecture -historical or urban development value at the local level, a municipality can decide to grant the municipal monument status.
For both monument types, they must be preserved for the future and the face must remain intact. The rules for the front of the historic houses in particular are strict.
In addition to monumental (residential) houses, entire areas with a special cultural -historical character are also designated. This is called a protected city or village view. In the province there are 45 of that kind of protected village and cityscapes.
