Fire divers, ambulances, a Mobile Medical Team, a police helicopter and boats were all deployed to search the Amsterdam Rhine Canal between Houten and Schalkwijk. There were several indications that someone had ended up in the water. For example, headphones would have been found along the side. It is unclear what the further clues were.
