Major Russian attack on Kyiv – Poland mobilizes

“One of the biggest air attacks” against Ukraine • Russian robots from the Black Sea

Russia has launched a major attack from the air against Kiev and several other cities in Ukraine on Sunday morning, reports say Kyiv Independent. It is one of the largest air attacks that have occurred, writes Ukraine’s foreign minister.

According to the Ukrainian newspaper, several powerful explosions have occurred in the capital during the morning. Pictures from Reuters show missiles flying over Kiev, and how explosions can be heard in the city.

Flight alerts went off throughout the country at 6:00 local time. Several cruise missiles, ballistic and hypersonic missiles are said to have been launched from the Black Sea, targeting several regions of Ukraine. Russian attack drones have also been reported in several cities across the country, including Kyiv.

It is about “one of the largest air attacks” against Ukraine. “Peaceful cities, sleeping civilians” and “critical infrastructure” were targets, says Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko says on Telegram that the remains of drones have hit an apartment building in the city that caught fire. According to Klitschko, at least one person must have been taken to hospital.

Poland mobilizes

In response to the attacks, Poland has raised its readiness with “all available forces”, including fighter jets that also include “allies”. That’s what Poland’s military leadership writes on X.

Massive Russian missile attacks have mainly been directed at places other than Kiev in recent months of the war.
