Last Friday, the UN-linked panel of experts, the Famine Review Committee, sounded the alarm about the risk of imminent famine in northern Gaza. The threshold for famine may already have been crossed – “but otherwise it will be crossed in the near future”, the FRC stated.
The warning was based on a report from mid-October – and since then the situation is reported to have worsened further.

Equality and working life minister Paulina Brandberg (L) suffers from a phobia – against bananas. The news has received a lot of attention, including internationally.
– I am disturbed when a hard-working minister is almost reduced to a phobia, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M).
Paulina Brandberg mentioned her banana phobia a few years ago on X, which Expressen has noticed. Her phobia is so strong that measures are taken before she leaves for meetings. When Speaker Andreas Norlén invited to a chat, the information was emailed that “no traces of bananas must be in the room”.
However, the banana phobia has in no way affected government work, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to TT.
– I have all the respect for people who have different phobias.
The news has been widely spread, including internationally by Politico who writes: “This is bananas!”.
Paulina Brandberg states in writing for Expressen that the phobia “is something that I get professional help with”.
