The Lord of the Rings trilogy is a trio of masterpieces. Over the years, however, fantasy fans have found some astonishing film errors in Peter Jackson’s work. The most hair-raising one is probably a car in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. In the Shire. Just a few hundred meters away from Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin).
The Lord of the Rings car was so annoying that Peter Jackson had it removed
A resourceful fantasy viewer published a picture of the scene on Reddit in 2018, and the sequence can also be seen in full length on YouTube. Frodo and Sam are on their way to Bree when the latter makes his famous observation “If I take one more step, I’ll be further from home than I’ve ever been before” says. The camera switches between the Hobbit scenes in a panoramic setting the revealed dust kicked up by a car driving away. Or not.
In the upper right corner of the picture (above the chimney smoke) the car is moving between trees:

The Mistake Theatrical Cut of The Fellowship of the Ring
Because Peter Jackson left the car for the DVD version of the film digitally removed. Keen observers can still see the textures that were placed over the car outline in post-processing. The bonus material of the extended version of the film includes a documentary showing the unchanged scene.
This is probably why the error has bothered many fans for 20 years. Cutting errors or wandering crew members are embarrassing for some, but an entire car? But somewhere the mistake also speaks for them Liveliness of filming over several years, which could never run completely without errors. Without this touch of deep humanity, the Lord of the Rings trilogy would not be what it is.
