The explosion happened around 2:30 am. “When we arrived, the fire was spreading,” reports a spokesperson for the Utrecht Safety Region (VRU). Due to the smoke development, the residents of the apartment complex had to leave their homes and were taken care of by employees of the municipality of Soest. One person had to be checked by ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation, but did not have to be taken to hospital.
