Tension rises between the United States and the Houthis. After the American strikes of the weekend on Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, the Houthi authorities announced, this Monday, March 17, a second response, after that of Sunday which targeted the American aircraft carrier Uss Harry Truman. Tens of thousands of people have protested in protest against American attacks, which have killed dozens. In Lebanon, the Israeli army has announced that it has conducted air strikes against Hezbollah members, despite the truce agreement in place since November 27.

The Israeli army says it has targeted Hezbollah members in southern Lebanon
The Israeli army said on Monday that it had conducted air strikes on two members of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, a country with which Israel signed a truce agreement on November 27. The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported one dead and three injured in an “Israeli enemy raid” in Yohmor.
The Israeli army said in a statement that it had shot from two members of Hezbollah “who served as observation agents and led terrorist activities” in the Yohmor region. This announcement comes in the aftermath of another in which the Israeli army claimed to have retaliated on Sunday from a “lost ball” from southern Lebanon in northern Israel.
In Yemen, the Houthis call to demonstrate after deadly American strikes
The Houthis rebels of Yemen, supported by Iran, called for immense demonstrations on Monday to protest against American strikes which left dozens of deaths this weekend. Tens of thousands of people were gathered in Sanaa, the capital, but also in Saadah, fief of the rebels in the North, in Hodeida and Amran, in the West, and in Dhamar, in the southwest of the country, according to images of Al-Massira TV, the Houthi television. “Death to America, who died in Israel”, chased a compact crowd in Sanaa.
On Saturday, American strikes targeted in particular Sanaa, the capital of Yemen controlled by the rebels, as well as other regions of the country, killing 53 people among which five children, and 98 injured, according to the Houthis. In response, the latter said on Sunday that they had led “a military operation (…) targeting the American aircraft carrier Uss Harry Truman and the warships that accompany him in the north of the Red Sea”, claiming to have drawn 18 missiles and a drone.
On Monday morning, they claimed a “second” attack on this aircraft carrier in the north of the Red Sea, “with many ballistic and cruise missiles as well as with drones, in a commitment that lasted several hours”. The United States has not confirmed these attacks.
The Israeli army says it has conducted air strikes in Gaza
The Israeli army said it had led air strikes on Monday on several Palestinian fighters who, she said, tried to place explosive devices in the Gaza Strip.
A first strike targeted “three terrorists who operated near the troops (of the army) and were trying to bury an explosive device in the ground, in the center of the Gaza Strip,” the army said in a statement, reporting another strike in the Rafah region against “several terrorists”.
Despite the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel in force since January 19, the army regularly conducts strikes in the Palestinian territory devastated by the war launched by the unprecedented attack of the Islamist movement on the south of Israel on October 7, 2023.
In Israel, success of a collection for the father of children hostages killed in Gaza
An appeal launched in Israel to support the father of KFIR and Ariel Bibas, the two children kidnapped by Hamas and killed in Gaza, made it possible to collect more than six million shekels (1.5 million euros) in 24 hours.
The prize pool “All for Yarden Bibas” was launched on Sunday to help the 30 -year -old to rebuild himself “physically, morally and economically”, according to the website of the call to donations launched by his father, Eli Bibas.
More than 31,000 people have already contributed, making it possible to garner more than 6.3 million shekels in one day, the collection site indicates Monday.
In the Palestinian territories, the work of NGOs becomes “almost impossible”
The concern rises in the humanitarian workers present in the Palestinian territories, who fear that their work will become “almost impossible” after the implementation of new regulations by Israel.
Since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, “we have tumbled down on a slippery slope, but here, we are downright descending it, and NGOs realize that the situation is unacceptable,” said a framework for an international non -governmental organization.
It has requested anonymity, like the other humanitarian workers interviewed by AFP, for fear of possible repercussions on their operations in the West Bank, a territory occupied by Israel since 1967, or in Gaza, under Israeli blockade.
“The ability to provide help while respecting the humanitarian principles in Gaza, the restrictions of access in the West Bank (…) All putting end to end, it gives the impression of attending the Apocalypse is like having a fire extinguisher in the face of a nuclear bomb,” she said. In question: Israeli projects drastically binding these organizations, mentioned for months, even years, have just been formalized.
