Are parking costs reimbursed?
Omroep Gelderland investigated whether the four major health insurers reimburse parking costs. Menzis and VGZ never do this. Zilveren Kruis sometimes has a small reimbursement in a number of supplementary insurance policies. CZ has a scheme for accommodation costs with a maximum reimbursement of 89 euros per night if you have to go to hospital for at least three days in a row without being admitted.
Parking costs at a hospital are sometimes tax deductible. There are a lot of conditions attached to this. The Consumers’ Association she listed them. This only applies if the person you are visiting lived with you before the illness or disability. A single journey to the hospital must also be more than 10 kilometers and the sick person must be nursed away from home for a total of more than a month. The sick person must also be visited at least once a week, or once a month in case of long-term illness.
If all these conditions are met, you may deduct 0.21 euros for every kilometer driven. You can then add the parking costs to these deductible car costs. But always keep the receipts for possible inspection!
