Kristine Stavås Skistad is the Swedish sprint stars’ biggest rival this winter.
Now Maja Dahlqvist tells us what she really thinks about the Norwegian – who is back after her stomach operation.
– She seems very shy, so she doesn’t say much, says Maja to Sportbibeln.
Last year came Kristine Stavå’s Ski City25, second in the overall Sprint Cup after Lynn Svahn. She is the Swedes’ most dangerous opponent this season as well, even when she was forced to sit out the opening World Cup weekend due to stomach surgery. She is now selected in the Norwegian squad for this weekend’s competitions in Lillehammer.
Kristine Stavås Skistad back
One that has been pitted against Stavås Skistad several times over the years is Maja Dahlqvist30. The Swede came fourth in the sprint cup last year and took bronze in the sprint and in the relay at the previous WC in Planica 2023. This weekend it was supposed to be another exciting duel between the two, but Maja has been forced to cancel the entire weekend on due to illness. Stavås Skistad, on the other hand, is making its season premiere.
– She is ready to compete. It’s very funny. That is a victory in itself, says her coach Created by Sofienlund to NRK.

The Norwegian has had a slightly different upload this summer. She has barely made a sound and the other national team mates have neither seen nor heard from her for several months. In both Norwegian and Swedish media, she has been portrayed as “mysterious”.

Now Maja Dahlqvist tells what she really thinks about Kristine Stavå’s Skistad and her strategy to lie low and not show herself to the public.
– We don’t see that many competitors at all during the summer, maybe it’s more that she isn’t even with the Norwegians and training with them. For her part and for their part it might be bigger than it is for ours, so I don’t see that it’s so strange either, says Maja.
