Maja Dahlqvist would like to go on the Tour de Ski.
But it all depends on how she is doing with the WC upload. There may be late changes in the season schedule.
– I would like to compete in everything, but it is not possible if I want to perform my absolute best at the WC, she tells Sportbibeln.
The first podium in the World Cup came in January 2018. Since then, the sprint star has Maja Dahlqvist30, continued to deliver at competitions, perhaps above all in major championships. In addition to her 38 podium finishes at the World Cup, she also has two WC golds and two Olympic silvers.
Maja Dahlqvist has rearranged the training
Since the WC in Trondheim 2025 is the highlight of the season, she puts most of her focus there. Maja has even left Falun to move to the Norwegian city with her American boyfriend Kevin Bolgeralso a skier.
– It’s been very good, I’m having a great time and it’s almost getting better and better, she tells Sportbibeln.

In order to be able to optimize her form before the season, she has changed her training slightly. During the pre-season, she has worked a lot to strengthen her strengths. It has been focused on sprints, less on distance. Fewer sessions, but harder and more intense.
– Went a little more towards sprinting and a little harder and less volume. A little more towards sprints specifically, she says.
Maja Dahlqvist’s WC upload
This particular WC season, it’s not just about what you train and how hard you train. It is also a lot about the fact that, as a skater, maybe opting out of competitions, in order to have time to recover and train between the regular World Cup weekends before the WC. It is still unclear how the elite riders will tackle the problem. Probably some will cancel their participation in the Tour de Ski, because it is too close to the World Cup or interferes with the upload.
– Absolutely, the WC is the goal this year, but for me it will be about how it goes at the beginning of the season and see what path I want to take. If I want to do the high-altitude upload to the WC, then I have to skip Falun. Otherwise, I can go to Falun, so there are both advantages and disadvantages, she tells Sportbibeln.

Her basic attitude is that she will ride the Tour de Ski, but that may change depending on how her body feels and if she and her team feel she needs more training or recovery. For example, she missed the World Cup weekend in Davos due to illness. It might have bothered her a bit.
– It’s the same with the Tour de Ski, will I want more competitions or not to get the optimum for the WC? There are different paths to take, but I haven’t quite nailed one yet. I would like to compete in everything, but it is not possible if I want to perform my absolute best at the WC. I know that. I have tried that before and then I don’t think I will have the peak in February. So it is important to be smart and take the right path, she says.
