Maja Dahlqvist has reached the age of 30 and is thinking of retiring after the WC in Falun 2027.
But she has no idea what she will do when her sports career is over.
– That is the most difficult question I can get, she tells Sportbibeln.
Three Olympic medals and four WC medals, all in sprints and relays, are strong credentials for the long-distance star Maja Dahlqvist. She naturally hopes to improve the harvest now that the WC in Trondheim is approaching. It could be one of the last championships in which we get to see her.
Dahlqvist can quit after the WC in Falun 2027
The 30-year-old from Borlänge has said that the next WC, which takes place in Falun in two years, could be the highlight of his career. After that, she will probably go into “retirement”. Her best friend Frida Karlsson25, has said she may retire after the WC 2027 – Maja Dahlqvist is thinking the same thing.
– I think Frida will go a little further than that, but you never know with Frida. I hope I go all the way to Falun and am sufficiently motivated then. It would have been the best ending. Three more seasons is optimal for me, she has told Sportbladet.

In order to optimize her chances of winning a first individual gold medal in the WC in Trondheim in February-March next year, Maja Dahlqvist has been living in the Norwegian city since April. She and the American boyfriend Kevin Bolgeralso a skier, left Falun so that she would have the chance to familiarize herself with the WC course.
– It’s been very good, I’m having a great time and it’s almost getting better and better. Right before the WC, I have the WC course to train on daily if I want. All is well… the roller rink. Soon the snow will come and I will get good quality. Then maybe it suits me this year and has given me a lot of motivation, while someone else feels that they want to distance themselves from the resort until the time is really right. It’s different how you feel. But for me it has been very good, she tells Sportbibeln.
Maja Dahlqvist will do that after her career
If she stays in Trondheim after the season or if she moves back home to Sweden, she leaves it unsaid. She enjoys herself very well and lives in the present. Nor does she have any idea what she will find on the day she decides to end her career as an elite athlete.

When Sportbibeln asks her what she would like to do if she wasn’t a professional skier, she is completely taken aback. Turns out it’s a question she really hates being asked.
– That is the most difficult question I can get. I’ve thought about it very little actually, she says and continues:
– But I think it’s fun with leadership and marketing. Not a real 8-17 job really, but we’ll see. I’ll have to try to figure something out.
Good luck with the season, Maja. It will be exciting to see what you can do in the World Cup and the WC. We are of course rooting for you! Hey hey!
