MAIRE wins licensing and process design package for SAF plant

(Finance) – MAIREa group listed on Euronext Milan and active in the transformation of natural resources, announced that NEXTCHEM (Sustainable Technology Solutions) has been awarded the licensing and the Process Design Package for a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant in Sei Mangkei, in the province of North Sumatra, in Indonesia.

This is the first plant to produce high-efficiency SAF primarily from plant waste palm oil processing (POME), allowing full domestic valorisation of feedstock, including used cooking oil, and demonstrating the economic sustainability of small-scale plants.

There production capacity of 60,000 tons per year of SAF has the potential to meet around 5% of the fuel demand of Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Indonesia’s largest airport.

“The decarbonisation of high-impact sectors such as aviation requires not only technical skills, but also the courage to follow new paths – commented theAD Alessandro Bernini – This agreement demonstrates that MAIRE has the skills and determination to deploy innovative and integrated technological solutions that can be adapted to different contexts and needs.”
