Maintenance work on September 19th. – All times and information

The past weekend turned a lot of things upside down in Destiny 2. Today’s update is intended to set a lot of things straight. MeinMMO tells you when Bungie wants to take the servers offline and what else has been announced.

Maintenance update history:

8:15 p.m.: Unfortunately, the game doesn’t run smoothly even after maintenance. Players report increased error codes and are kicked out of the game. Bungie Help is investigating the bugs that are causing an increase in error codes CURRANT, COCONUT, WEASEL and CENTIPEDE.

7:00 p.m.: The servers are back online. On the one hand, the update replaced the selection of cases and perks for exotic and legendary weapons. The illegal weapon perks were also replaced.

4:15 p.m.: Destiny 2 is now offline.

3:00 p.m.: Maintenance started in the background. Players now have 1 hour and 15 minutes left before Destiny 2 goes into downtime.

This is what you need to know today: A big statement from Bungie is that they want Destiny 2 to have moments that make you remember the time you played it. The last weekend in Season 22 was such a moment.

  • After a blatant exploit made the rounds, the Guardians were able to create various “superweapons” that could pulverize anything in seconds.
  • For some players it was hell and a complete ruination of the competition, because everyone could now achieve anything and thus easily achieve the hardest triumphs.
  • Other Guardians, however, were having the time of their lives and taking it easy. Being able to build a “super weapon” and finally get through the game easily was the coolest thing for her.
  • Warlock player and Global Social Media Lead at Bungie Griffin Bennet then summed it up when he said, “When life gives you lemons, make a new lemon that shoots exploding lemons.”

The majority of the exploit is now over, as Bungie’s support team has been working on several solutions and some of them have already been implemented into the game.

Today’s update will bring further corrections and even some postponements, because after the changes Destiny 2 was still plagued by a persistent error code hiccup.

Bungie announced the end of the exploit in the game.

Maintenance on September 19th – All times for server down

While the number of players in Destiny 2 has fluctuated around 80,000 in recent weeks, this crazy weekend on September 16th saw them break the 100,000 mark. However, this also has an impact on the current gameplay.

These dates have now been postponed: The error not only caused excitement among the players. Everything was upside down at Bungie too, as the game director revealed via Twitter/X. And the further course of Season 22 had to be adjusted accordingly.

  • Due to ongoing work to address remaining weapon crafting issues, Update 7.2.0.4, which will include a change to Oversoul Essence drop rates, will be delayed.
  • The start of the grandmaster raid of “Crota’s End” and the new PvP mode “Checkmate” will also be suspended until everything goes back to normal.
  • Bungie named an earliest start date for Thursday, September 21, 2023 for update 7.2.0.4 and the suspended modes. So for today’s downtime, the focus is probably only on fixing the exploit error.

    Autoplay

These times are important today: Bungie informed players via Twitter about the exact times of today’s server shutdown. The planned downtime is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

This is the exact maintenance schedule:

  • Background maintenance will start on all platforms at 3:00 p.m.
  • The servers go offline around 4:15 p.m. Players are automatically kicked out of the game.
  • During the downtime, Bungie will take care of the servers and then provide an update for all platforms to download.
  • At 7:00 p.m. everything should be online again and you can play again.
  • The maintenance will then continue in the background until 9:00 p.m.
  • Important: As long as the background maintenance is running, connection problems may occur in the game from time to time. In addition, there may be login queues after maintenance because Bungie only gradually releases access to the servers to avoid load problems. So you may have to wait longer today to get back in the game.

Also keep in mind that third-party applications and the official Companion app may also not be accessible properly for a while, meaning you won’t be able to use them.

Patch notes for today’s update in Destiny 2

What’s in the patch notes? Bungie publishes the list of all changes for the update in the form of patch notes. However, these will only come online this evening and will then provide a complete overview of all fixed problems and improvements.
