The former superstar Magnus Wislander enjoyed great success on the handball court and in the early 2000s was named the best handball player of the century in the 20th century.
In parallel with his handball career, which took him to Kiel, Germany, where he won numerous titles, Wislander also had a career with Posten (now Postnord) at home in Gothenburg.
When he moved to Germany, however, he took a leave of absence from his postman role, only to return when he moved back home. In 2007, he advanced within Posten and got the job as local production manager.

In March 2023, however, life changed for the legend. Namely, Wislander was asked to apply for new positions due to a reorganization that ensured that middle managers were purged. Unfortunately, this led to Wislander becoming unemployed as he was not chosen by the management for a new job, writes Aftonbladet.
– It was a slap in the face because you know you’ve done a damn good job all these years. I have taken over problem offices and fixed them and then moved to a new one. And then you get a foot in the door. It’s a small blow that takes a toll on the psyche because you wonder what you’ve done to the person or people who make the decision when everyone you’ve worked with is very happy, he says to The evening paper.
Wislander was instead forced to leave the job he loved and has since been unemployed after 36 years in Posten’s service.
– I had a great time at Posten, above all thanks to the employees and the camaraderie. I loved going to work every day.
